How to Nominate

Any 10-year member of a NAGAAA league or association, whether living or deceased, can be nominated for the Hall. The nominees should have made significant contributions to their league and/or NAGAAA. Anyone familiar with a candidate can make nominations for the Hall at the winter meetings of NAGAAA. The living members of the Hall of Fame and certain at-large members vote on the nominees each year, based on the credentials presented with the applications. The candidates who receive at least two-thirds of the votes cast are inducted into the Hall at the awards ceremony of that year’s GSWS.

CRITERIA

Membership Eligibility

Any member of a NAGAAA league or association, living or deceased, (including players, managers, coaches, scorekeepers, and fans), who have been in an association for at least ten years are eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame. Nominees should have made significant contributions to their leagues and/or to NAGAAA.

Applications for nomination to the NAGAAA Hall of Fame shall be made at the annual winter meeting of NAGAAA. The applications may be submitted by any person who is familiar with the candidate. We strongly recommend that the application include a photograph of the nominee. The reason for the photo is that names do not always convey the person nominated. A picture is worth a thousand words and could jog the memory of the voting members. This could determine whether or not a nominee is elected into the Hall of Fame. The photo will become the property of the NAGAAA Hall of Fame. No more than two members from an association can be nominated in any year. Nominated people who are not elected shall be resubmitted for 2 additional years.

After the 3 year period, the maker of the applicant shall be notified, and asked to submit an updated application for the nominee. The Chairman or Secretary of the Hall of Fame Committee will prepare a ballot with the names of all nominees and will submit the ballot with a copy of the applications to the voting members within 30 days of the deadline for nominations. Voting members will have 30 days from the date the ballots are distributed to return them to the Chairman of the Committee. The voting members may vote for as many of the nominees as he/she wishes. A nominee must be selected on at least two-thirds (2/3rds) of the ballots cast to become a member of the NAGAAA Hall of Fame. The Chairman of the Committee will tabulate the results of the voting, and notify the nominees, NAGAAA Officers, and the living Hall of Fame candidates of the results.

Voting Members

Voting members shall consist of the following:

  1. The living elected members of the Hall of Fame
  2. The at-large committee members of the Hall of Fame organization. Any at-large member not attending two (2) consecutive NAGAAA meetings or not voting in one election may be removed from the Committee. The Hall of Fame Committee meets twice a year, at the winter and fall meetings. The Committee shall elect a Chairman and Secretary. The Chairman shall conduct Committee meetings, prepare and send ballots and applications to voting members, receive and tabulate the results of the voting, and notify the NAGAAA officers, living nominees, and Committee members of the results of the voting. The Secretary shall record the minutes and assist the Chairman with the balloting. Ron Burbey of the Twin Cities and Julie Colwell of Chicago shall be Co-Chairman at the Committee meetings.
